Would you ever pay for downloaded music?

Actually, I already do. I have been a member of Yahoo! Music (music.yahoo.com) for a few years and have to say it’s the best $12/month I have ever spent. I’m legally downloading/transferring songs to my portable player. It’s a great value and concept.

EDIT: Jun 8, 2009 – Since Yahoo! Music was bought by Rhapsody, for the past year I have been a member of Napster (www.napster.com) and like it the best out of all music subscription services I’ve tried.

On the other hand, I would never pay a cent to iTunes (www.apple.com/itunes) for downloading music. I think their concept of 99 cents per song is idiotic – it almost reminds me of when cassette singles were $3 and albums were $12. Why not just pay the extra money to get the album? So what if you don’t like some of the songs on the album; you still get more for your money.
